About & Safety Protocols
At Healing Hijama Mumbai, your health, safety, and comfort are our top priorities. Discover our sterile clinical standards, treatment guidelines, and holistic care approach.
Clinical-Grade Hygiene Standards
We follow medical-grade sanitization procedures to ensure complete client safety.
100% Single-Use & Disposable
Every single cup, surgical blade, and needle is taken from sterile, vacuumed packages in front of the client and disposed of immediately in biohazard containers after the session. Nothing is ever reused.
Triple-Step Sanitization
We sanitize the skin before, during, and after cupping using clinical antiseptics. Cupping zones are moisturized using anti-bacterial organic oils (black seed or extra-virgin olive oil) to accelerate tissue healing.
Sterile Environment
All surfaces, headrests, and therapy tables are disinfected with medical-grade sprays before and after every client visit. The therapist operates strictly in single-use protective gloves and masks.
Dry Cupping vs. Wet Cupping (Hijama)
Understand the distinction between the two therapeutic cupping styles.
Dry Cupping
Uses negative pressure to create suction under silicone or glass cups. This draws muscles upwards, releases tightness, stretches fascia, and increases blood circulation to targeted tissues. No skin scratches are made.
- Excellent for sore muscle groups
- Relieves myofascial adhesion
- Safe during muscle-recovery phases
Wet Cupping (Hijama)
Begins with light dry cupping to numb the area. Then, tiny superficial scratches are made in the epidermis, and the cups are reapplied. The vacuum pressure gently extracts stagnant, dark blood containing heavy toxins.
- Pulls out cellular waste and lactic acid
- Improves systemic immune defenses
- Promotes rapid skin tissue regeneration
Pre-Session Guidelines
- 1Fasting: For wet cupping, ensure you do not eat a heavy meal for 2 to 3 hours prior to your session (light fluids are fine).
- 2Hydration: Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours leading up to your session to aid toxin release.
- 3Comfortable Attire: Wear loose, comfortable clothing (ideally button-up or wide neck shirts for back access).
- 4Avoid Caffeine: Avoid caffeine and energy drinks on the day of the therapy.
Post-Session Guidelines
- 1Rest: Avoid strenuous physical activity, gym sessions, or heavy lifting for 24 hours.
- 2Shower Guidelines: Avoid showering for 12-24 hours after wet cupping. When you do, use warm water and avoid harsh scrubbing on the treated areas.
- 3Hydration: Continue to drink warm water to flush out the mobilized toxins.
- 4Dietary Restrictions: Avoid eating red meat, dairy products, or highly processed foods for 24 hours to give your digestive system a rest.
- 5Keep Sites Clean: Apply a thin layer of organic olive oil or black seed oil if the cupping sites feel dry or itchy.
Myths vs. Facts
Hijama is extremely painful.
The suction creates a vacuum pressure resembling a deep tissue massage. The tiny incisions made during wet cupping feel like minor pinpricks or scratches and are highly tolerable.
Cupping marks are painful bruises.
The circular marks are not bruises (which are damaged capillaries from trauma). They are deposits of stagnant blood, lactic acid, and toxins drawn to the surface. They are generally painless and fade in 3-7 days.
Wet cupping drains a dangerous amount of blood.
Wet cupping only draws out superficial, toxic, stagnant capillary blood. The total volume is very small (often less than 30-50ml) and has no negative impact on blood pressure or energy.
Hijama is only for people suffering from chronic diseases.
Hijama is primarily a preventative therapy. While it treats chronic issues like sciatica and back pain, healthy individuals use it regularly for detoxification, immunity, and stress relief.
